Tekla Butcher-Monson is the founder and race director of the T-Dog and the general manager at Trail Breaker Kennel. Inspired by her mother, Iditarod legend Susan Butcher, Tekla is passionate about creating a race series that fosters joy, learning, and collaboration. Beyond mushing, Tekla serves on the board of Explore Fairbanks and Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre. Her dedication to creativity, mentorship, and building inclusive spaces drives her work, whether she’s managing the kennel, directing theatre or leading local community initiatives in Fairbanks.

Vice-President
While daydreaming instead of studying for a test one day, Abby identified her favorite things as dogs, snow, and covering distance.  She made the logical next step in that train of thought and moved to Alaska.  She has been involved with sled dogs in some form or another since 2013 and at Trail Breaker Kennel since 2021.  She has raced in the Bethel Season Opener, the Akiak Dash, and the Quest 80.  She helped organize the T Dog Training Run in 2023 and the inaugural T Dog races in 2024.

Outside of dogs, Abby is quite proficient at turning yarn into other things and works as a physician.

As the T Dog board’s vice president, Abby “doesn’t have a real job anyway,” and thus, her contributions are indescribable.

Secretary
Stefan Milkowski has always loved biking, running, and skiing. He still can’t say why he waited so long to get a fat bike. He raced the T-Dog 120 on a bike in 2024 and 2025 and loved the opportunity to see new places and share the trails with teams of dogs. He’s grateful for the opportunity to bring a human-powered perspective to the board. Stefan has lived in Fairbanks since 2005 and works as a carpenter.
