T-Dog 200: Connecting Historic Trails and Communities
This year, the T-Dog is finally achieving a goal we've been working toward for years: connecting Susan Butcher's two iconic homes in Fairbanks and Eureka, Alaska! We're thrilled to reopen historic trails between Minto, Eureka, and Manley for mushers to explore.
The new route brings a slightly different format while preserving the T-Dog spirit of self-supported wilderness travel, thoughtful dog care, and camaraderie.
The trail offers a little bit of everything! From challenging hill climbs between Minto and Manley, to the historic mail trail through dense forests and wide-open Minto Flats, to the final run upstream on the braided Tanana River.
Friday, March 19 | 8–10 PM | Minto Start
Following pre-race meetings and vet checks in Fairbanks, mushers will head to Minto for an evening trailhead start.
Teams will have 42–44 hours to travel approximately 160 miles self-supported to Nenana, managing their own run and rest schedules.
The first 75 miles take teams through historic Eureka, with an optional hospitality stop, before reaching a warm welcome and community celebration in Manley Hot Springs. From there, it's another 85 miles to Nenana, with hospitality at the historic Tolovana Roadhouse.
Sunday, March 21 | 4 PM | Nenana Restart
There is no mandatory rest requirement in Nenana. Mushers decide how best to manage their teams throughout the journey.
Whatever your strategy, the goal is the same: to have you and your team rested, ready, and eager for that final run up the Tanana!
Teams may not depart Nenana before 4 PM (restart details TBD). From there, it's approximately 50 miles upstream to the finish at Trail Breaker Kennel in Fairbanks!
Rules can be found here.
Please review and sign the mandatory waivers and T-Dog Code of Conduct.
