Thanks to early support from the community, we are already about $4,300 of the way toward our $7,500 goal.
Today is Susan Butcher Day, honoring the life and legacy of one of Alaska's most legendary mushers.
For many, this day is a reminder of how deeply dog mushing is woven into the history and culture of our home. From village races to events like the Iditarod, these races bring communities together and help keep the spirit of the sport alive for the next generation.
The Tanana Valley Sled Dog Race (T-Dog) continues that tradition. Founded by Tekla Butcher-Monson, daughter of Susan Butcher, the race travels through interior Alaska communities including Manley, Minto, Nenana, and Fairbanks, bringing mushers and communities together for a weekend of multi-sport racing.
Thanks to a generous supporter, we are working to unlock a $5,000 community match challenge to support future generations of mushers.
Now a second sponsor has stepped forward with an additional opportunity: If we reach $7,500 in donations by Tuesday, March 10, they will match an additional $2,500.
On a day when Alaska reflects on the impact of Susan Butcher and the sport she helped shape, the community has a chance to support the races that continue that legacy today.
In the spirit of Susan Butcher and the mushing community she helped inspire, help us carry that tradition forward by contributing here: https://www.tdogalaska.org/sponsor
